Members of the NVLB are companies producing, importing and trading aggregates for the building industry. Members affiliated to the NVLB include companies producing, importing and trading in raw materials for construction. The raw materials, including gravel, industrial sand, crushed stone, rubble, limestone, slag, lava and filling sand, are used for a range of applications such as riverbank and coastal protection, road surfacing, road foundations, concrete mortar and concrete products.

By mean of information exchange, knowledge sharing and the stimulation of research, the NVLB exercises an influence, in direct contact with the relevant government bodies, over national and international standards, specifications and legislation.

For the manufacture, trade and application of construction raw materials, the NVLB offers members direct support in a range of areas including standardisation, legislation and quality care. The NVLB also assists in solving any problems that may arise in these areas. This can save hefty legal costs and avoid reinventing the wheel in specific legal scenarios. The experience gained also guides the NVLB in its negotiations with government.

The NVLB promotes the continued success of wholesalers. It does so by acting as link between national and international manufacturers and users of construction raw materials by means of information exchange, knowledge sharing and contact with government bodies.

To this end, the NVLB organises research and training as well as devising practical terms and conditions of supply and quality care systems. In this area too, the NVLB offers direct support to its members.

Founded on November 4^th 2002 and based in Amsterdam, the NVLB, is the point of contact for government, research and educational institutions, other sector organisations and the general public in the members' areas of expertise.
